Young Golfers Invited To Gullane Junior Open

Aspiring junior golfers are being invited to test their skills on the Gullane No.3 when Gullane Golf Club hosts its prestigious Junior Open on Friday 17 July 2026.

One of the highlights of the junior golf calendar in East Lothian, the Gullane Junior Open welcomes boys and girls aged 18 or under (as of January 1, 2026) from across Scotland and beyond. This esteemed competition has a long-standing tradition of showcasing future talent, with some well-known names on the trophies.

Junior members from both the Gullane Golf Club and Gullane Ladies Golf Club are encouraged to enter, offering a fantastic opportunity to compete for a ‘Major’ trophy on their home turf. Adult members are also urged to spread the word amongst eligible family members and friends, inviting the next generation of golfing stars to experience Gullane’s celebrated links.

“Our Junior Open offers the chance for talented and upcoming young players to compete on a fun and challenging links course, which will be in fantastic condition in mid-July,” said Gullane’s Junior Convenor, Gordon Blackwood. “We have witnessed some fabulous junior golfers who have played in the event in the past including the likes of Oliver Mukherjee and Abercrombie Nisbet, and progressed onto success on a local and national stage, and we have some excellent golfers coming through the ranks within the club at the moment who will be eager to make their mark.”

“The Junior Open comes hot on the heels of the Genesis Scottish Open the previous week, which sees some of the world’s best golfers competing on the club’s doorstep. This proximity to top-tier golf will hopefully inspire even more juniors to embrace competitive play.”

To enter, players must have a handicap of 28 or less. The entry fee is just £10 per player, which includes access to the club’s practice facilities for warm-up and a refreshment in The Links after their round.
