The Future Of Golf
Few places in the world can boast a course dedicated to children and the 6-hole layout is perfect for getting youngsters into the game.
The Children’s Course at Gullane is located in the heart of the Village Of Golf and runs alongside the closing hole of Gullane No.3.
Many a local golfer has honed their skills on the Children’s Course and it is free to play by any child at any time.
Adults may play too, but only if they are accompanied by a responsible child.
Get Started
The course is located on the starting point of the original Gullane golf course, right outside the original clubhouse, which is now The Old Clubhouse pub.
The six hole course is maintained by the Gullane golf Club greenkeepers and has no rough and no bunkers. The fast firm fairways set the tone for future shot shaping on the links, so it is ideal for those who are making the first swings of a sport that can last a lifetime.
Gullane Golf Club would like to award any golfer under the age of 12 who completes their first round at Gullane Children’s Course a Certificate of Achievement. Local Rules
1. Out Of Bounds
All areas outside the perimeter of the course are deemed out of bounds – in particular the pub until you are 18!
2.Ground Under Repair
A player may take relief if they have interference from:
(a) Outcrops of bare rock
(b) A bad lie
3. Immovable Obstructions
Tired and emotional children
4. Adults must be accompanied by a responsible child

Starter Box
This is the original Starter Box from Gullane No.1 and dates back to the 1930s. It was originally a beach hut from nearby Gullane Bents that was converted to a new life in golf.
When long serving starter James Laidlaw (known as Spoonie) retired from Gullane Golf Club in 1972, he was gifted the box and it sat in his garden until he passed away.In 2004 the original starter box was kindly gifted back to the club my Mr & Mrs McEwen of Hopetoun Terrace.
It was then placed by the 13th tee on Gullane No.1 until it was finally refurbished and relocated to the 1st tee of Gullane Children’s Course, where it stands proudly watching over the next generation of golfers.
