Gullane Golfers Ready to Shine at Home Internationals
After a hectic summer of major individual events, the spotlight turns to team golf this week as the UK and Ireland’s top amateur golfers assemble to represent their respective countries at the Home Internationals.
It is a monumental week for Gullane golfers, with no fewer than five of our talented home club members pulling on national colours across both events.
In the Men’s and Women’s Home Internationals (5 – 7 August), being hosted at Woodbrook Golf Club in Ireland, the trio of Abercrombie Nisbet, Oliver Mukherkee and Sam Mukherjee line-up in the Scotland team.
All three have enjoyed strong individual seasons and will be key assets for the Scottish team as they compete for glory in County Wicklow.
While The R&A introduced a combined event in 2022 the original International Trophy (Women’s) and Raymond Trophy (Men’s) are still presented to the leading country in the women’s and men’s matches, with England defending both titles.
Back on home soil in the Boys & Girls Home Internationals (4 – 6 August), Gullane will be represented on both sides the of the ‘Auld Enemy’ divide, with the US college bound pairing of Alexander Yuill and Cameron Mukherjee being selected for Scotland and England respectively, as the historic Angus links of Monifieth hosts the event.
England have won all five of the Girls’ & Boys’ Home Internationals since the combined event started in 2021.
We encourage all members to follow the action throughout the week, and we send our best wishes to Abercrombie, Oliver, Sam, Alexander, and Cameron.
