East Lothian Winter League Success for Gullane
Congratulations to Gullane Golf Club’s Winter League team who have been crowned East Lothian Winter League champions for the first time in six years after a convincing victory away from home against Musselburgh last Saturday.
Led by captain Scott Walker, the Gullane team has enjoyed an impressive campaign over the past few months which saw them win all five home games, in addition to wins away wins against Tantallon and Saturday’s superb 4.5- 0.5 win over Musselburgh at Monktonhall.
Gullane finished top of the table on 15-points, one clear of defending champions Craigielaw and three points ahead of third placed Tantallon.
“We’ve assembled a really good squad again this season and have managed to get a few younger guys embedded into things, which is great,” said Walker. “The performance against Musselburgh capped off a fantastic league season for us. We’ve all really enjoyed it, and this should also hold us in good stead moving forward.”
“We’ve used 18 different players so far this season and I’d like to thank everyone involved for their fantastic support, tremendous commitment, and, most importantly, excellent golf throughout the season. A huge thanks also to the club who have supplied our fantastic new team outfits.”
Team for the final game: Thomas Simmonds, John Dunn-Butler, Kenny Wright, Andrew Hendry, Graeme Clark, Ewan Gordon, Stuart Roberts, Scott Walker, Alan Smith and Duncan Low.
