Captain’s Charity Day Raises £18,000 For Village Hall

Gullane Golf Club is delighted to announce that its biannual Captain’s Charity Day, held on Friday 30 May, successfully raised an impressive £18,437 for the Gullane Community Association. These vital funds will support the Gullane Village Hall’s project to enhance its disabled facilities, a crucial initiative within the local community.

The Captain’s Charity Day saw a fantastic turnout, with 156 players forming 39 teams, all competing for a worthy cause. The winning team comprised of Mark Lewis, Richard Disley, Ellie Lewis, and Rachel Disley, secured victory with an excellent score of 91.

Gullane Golf Club Captain Colin Steele, who was on hand to present the cheque to members of the Gullane Community Association committee, expressed his immense pride and gratitude: “I am incredibly proud of the club’s efforts and the overwhelming generosity shown by our members, guests, and sponsors. Their fantastic support has enabled us to contribute significantly to a vital project within our local community. The Gullane Village Hall’s work to improve disabled facilities will make a real difference to many lives, and it’s heartwarming to see our club play a part in that.”

The success of the Captain’s Charity Day was bolstered by the generous contributions of various sponsors. Auction prizes were kindly donated by prestigious golf clubs including Royal Aberdeen, Gleneagles, Luffness New, The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, Elie Golf House Club, and Blairgowrie. Additionally, an array of enticing prizes were on offer, including a signed Springboks Rugby shirt and golf apparel from Royal and Awesome.

The Captain’s Charity Day is a cornerstone of the Club’s events calendar, raising funds for various charities chosen by the respective Club Captain each year, underscoring Gullane Golf Club’s ongoing commitment to community support.
